Condoleeza Rice gave an amazing forum address at BYU last Thursday. When I grow up, I want to be her...
I took notes while she spoke, and here are a few of my favorite things she spoke about.
If you are constantly focused on today's problems, you wil not view the long-term picture. We will not be judged for our day to day actions, but rather our actions in the long term.
What must we do to make sure history's judgements are right?
-Defend our country, we have to complete our job in Afghanistan. We advocate that every man, woman and child deserves to live in freedom. This is a moral and practical cause.
Democracy makes a difference to our creativity as human beings.
Creativity and innovation lead the United States of America.
It doesn't matter where you came from, it only matters where you are going.
College will transform your family for generations and make you someone who would otherwise not have the chance to be.
As people who are being given a gift of education, we have a resonsibility to change the world.
BYU does not see our faith and intellect as enemies, but rather an integral part of who we are.
The essence of a human being is to integrate "what is" with "what might be."
Find your passion while you are here [BYU]. What will make you get up every morning for the rest of your life? Worlds open up when you find your passion. Take the time to find it.
You will be more fulfilled when you overcome something that is hard, instead of succeeding at easy things.
Take advantage of study abroad, and learn foreign languages.
Keep your optimism. As educated people, we have a responsibility to be optimistic about the challenges in the world.
You can't control your circumstances, but you can control your response to your circumstances.
Remember our responsibility because of where you are, and what you've been granted.

I've always told people that I want to be her when I grow up because she is so poised and well put together. I'm sad that she came to BYU and I didn't know! :( Anyways, I love you Chloe!
